Ex News of the World columnist defends Coulson's Chequers invite!

Well he would, would he not, see The Indpendent, this morning, here, from which this classic quote:

Mr Hague said he was not embarrassed "in any way" by the Government's relationship with News International executives and defended the Prime Minister's decision to entertain Mr Coulson, the former News of the World editor, at his Buckinghamshire retreat in March. 

Hague used his column I recall, during the Michael Howard election campaign to plead pressure of other work other lucrative commitments, as an excuse for not then campaigning. So much for this individuals concern for either country or party!

The moral and political case for IDS to resume his Conservative Party leadership.

David Cameron has lost the moral and political authority to continue to lead the country. Ridding the nation of this encumbrance to sound policies and morally based judgements ,and therefore it follows, optimum national survival during the rapidly approaching, world economic tsunami, cannot be delayed for much longer. 

The first point that must be dealt with to achieve the National Government (which I believe is becoming the sole recourse,) with the authority to take the urgent decisions to protect the incomes and welfare of Britain’s population, must be taken within the Conservative Party. In calmer times the trashing of our three most recent Prime Ministers by the Murdoch empire could be given time to play out through the process of police enquiries, judicial reviews and the complicated inner politics and leadership election procedures of the Conservative Party, which holds the greatest number of seats in Parliament, from which flows the ability to select an individual to lead the country which other party MPs then have the right to accept or reject.

Iain Duncan Smith was the last leader of the Tory Party to be elected under the system of election introduced by William Hague. The coronation of Michael Howard, followed by the hugely suspect procedures which resulted in David Cameron arriving at the head of the party, are both covered in great detail on my blog Teetering Tories on a day to day basis at the time of each process. In my view, given all the circumstances as there detailed, IDS has the absolute moral right to to justify the party leadership being returned to him at this difficult moment, for just as long as the coming World Economic collapse continues, and while he can gain the necessary support from the Labour and Liberal Democrats party, whom I would suggest he invites to form a National Government, just as in war time, which the coming months seem likely to resemble.

So much for the moral case. What of the politics?

As I pointed out on these pages earlier this week, eight years ago IDS identified the dangers to our country from the European union, and was subsequently removed from the leadership of his party for his pains. Just as happened to Margaret Thatcher before him. Thatcher and IDS have both been proved entirely correct in all their warnings. Nobody in the Conservative Party, other perhaps than Ken Clarke and a few other EU fanatics, could today argue with that obvious fact.

David Cameron has failed politically. He apparently sacrificed his probity to News International, in order to gain election against the least popular and thoroughly tainted party in recent modern history. He failed! Popular opinion had it, that IDS was ruthlessly dumped following being smeared in the media, because he was considered unelectable. He could hardly have done worse than Howard and Cameron. The crisis that is about to engulf us comes from the EU. Cameron on his record since becoming PM, has proved himself unable to stand up to this monstrous and wealth destroying, oppressive and totalitarian, Construct; which is today slowly consuming itself and the wealth of its membership, to no point!

The founding by IDS of the Centre for Social Justice and his work as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions add tremendously to this upright man's political qualifications for leading the nation, where the pain will inevitably initially be felt most strongly by the poorer members of society!

"Dare I say it?" Not if you are a real leader!

David Cameron was at his slippery slimiest best on the Andrew Marr show yesterday, read the transcript from here. One phrase in particual makes absolutely plain that he is completely clueless about the purpose and point of the Prime Ministerial office he supposedly fills, it was this:

Now there is a lot of room for local authorities to share back office costs, to cut out bureaucracy, to stop waste, to stop doing some things that weren't adding value. All organisations have to do that. Dare I say it, even the BBC has to do it.


A dowager duchess at a select dinner party might preface a sentence with "Dare I say it" a Prime Minister, responsible for the governance of a nation can only appear as an effete and useless fop when using such a phrase.

Peter Oborne finally "GETS" Cameron and Osborne

Peter Oborne, one of the supporters of the smug group who have destroyed the Conservative Party from the top courtesy of a rigged party election, finally seems to have heard the penny drop! Read his comment in the Daily Telegraph today from here. While on that site read what Ken Clarke has to say on the tear ahead from here.

For a Prime Minister sandwiched between familial male disabilities - THE real challenge now awaits!

Anyone reading the two obituaries linked here and here would be hard-hearted indeed not to admire the courage and empathise with the pathos of the two separate lives therein described.

Strange indeed that the Father of the one early life, cut short before it had barely begun, would also be the Son of the second life described, a courageous but strangely privileged one, played out to its full length and only ending this week.

None can speculate at the strengths or weaknesses such circumstances could cause in any man, let alone one charged with leading a nation through its darkest days for seventy years.

When I penned the posting beneath this, I had not been aware of the depths of tragedy in this extraordinary saga, that David Cameron could be extraordinarily good for the country OR a complete disaster must now be obvious to any who read the links to this posting.

The coming days will tell!

My condolences to David Cameron

The loss of a father is often a traumatic and symbolic moment in any man's lifetime. I pass my condolences to the Prime Minister which are no less sincere for the fact that this blog has been one of his most constant critics.

Many of those criticisms detailed here on this blog, could well be ascribed to a complaint which all experience in their youth, namely immaturity. My Father's passing when I was only 22 made me grow up very fast, which looking back over the intervening forty-four years I can now determine almost certainly made me the possibly somewhat intolerant and irascible individual that I am today. I do believe that on the plus side, however, it allowed me to form an ability for fast but considered decision making that I was able to profit from in life.

Such a sea-change now confronts Britain's Prime Minister. There are challenges enough ahead, for example the economy and the future path of both Germany and the USA., as discussed on Ironies Too yesterday and today.

When Mr Cameron returns to Downing Street, perhaps we will see signs of such new maturity, a dumping of the former News International placeman at the centre of Downing Street power would be an encouraging first step.

Cameron stands for the same old Corrupted Politics NOT "Change" at ALL!

The two posts below show quite clearly how David Cameron obtained victory in the Party leadership election. How could YouGov at the early stages of the leadership election have got the Daily Telegraph to report the following on 12th November 2005? I quote:

The poll shows that 68 per cent of party members who have returned their ballot papers backed Mr Cameron, compared with 32 per cent for his older and more experienced rival, David Davis.

Mr Cameron has a similar lead among the 67 per cent who have still to vote, with 66 per cent saying they will back him, compared with 34 per cent for Mr Davis.

How did YouGov have access to the Conservative Party membership lists?

Why had the ballots of those votes already cast been opened and revealed to YouGov in complete contempt for any fair electoral procedure? If they had not been opened, how could the party differentiate between those who had voted and those who had not?

As I asked at the time, what was the size of the sample? If YouGov asked those on its lists these questions during the poll the sample size could only have been tiny and therefore the publication of the result in this manner appears to have been designed by YouGov and the Telegraph to swing the result?

Either the candidate himself or those supporting him appear to have broken with all proper electoral protocol.

Why has the Conservative Party remained silent on this issue for the past 5 years?

Swinging an election in such a manner does not represent change, it stands for all that is corrupted in party politics. Any who now vote for David Cameron and his party are effectively voting for a continuation of the rottenness that has been within Britain's government system for the past thirteen years, if not even longer!

Conservative Home tries to bury Cameron's Radio Interview

The interview this morning during which the Tory Leader was quizzed on his own mortgage expenses and was evasive in the extreme and finally forced to admit that he would never contemplate leaving the EU was effectively buried by the blog Conservative Home by only mentioning it at the head of a sub-thread with a pointless interview with William Hague.

James Gray shames the Conservative Party

The above is the headline for a discussion yesterday on Conservative Home Blog after the named Tory MP has been caught claiming for wreaths he laid on Remembrance Sunday.

The topic has gathered 105 comments so far, but none seem to quite gather the real tragedy, that this action does not shame Cameron's Conservative Party one jot! In fact it is exactly what this blog could well have predicted!

Shame? Can any imagine Cameroon's even understand the connotations of the word?

PUNCTUALITY PICKLES DOESN'T DESERVE THE MONEY MABLE!!

It is now coming up to two weeks since the British public had a rare insight into the weirdly warped mind of the Conservative Party Chairman Eric Pickles MP, through the window afforded by Question Time.

I have earlier provided a transcript of the explanation by the self-destructing 'clockwork' nincompoop who seems to assume that only Maggot MP have time constraints in performing their jobs, but here is the video now on YouTube which if anything comes over as even more breathtakingly arrogant and insufferable where the whole bearing of the man seems to indicate a lifestyle of indolence and over-indulgence thus adding to the disgraceful nature of the excuses he provides for an act of pure selfish greed:



Now it is Question Time for David Cameron Leader of the main opposition party The Conservatives, who alone appoints the Party Chairman -"WHY, TWO WEEKS TOMORROW SINCE THIS NATIONALLY TELEVISED DISASTER TOOK PLACE, IS THIS MAN STILL CHAIRMAN OF YOUR PARTY , HAVE YOU NO SHAME EITHER?"

Format Change

I have updated the format of this blog in anticipation of shortly being able to announce that either the Leader of the Party, David Cameron, or his Shadow Chancellor, George Osborne, will shortly mount their first effective attack on the economic policies of the Labour Government over the past 12 years.

I anticipate such an amazing event based on the Ernst & Young ITEM Club report on the economy which effectively states that Britain is now doomed and is surprisingly enough being widely reported, even in the UK, on both radio, TV and the press!!

(Probably have to wait until Monday as I forgot for a moment that Cameron does not do weekends!)

Haig and Fox for Cameron

My warnings of MP's opportunism of yesterday (see posting beneath this) were well timed as today's Sunday Times reports both William Haig and Liam Fox today declaring for the empty vessel.

Remember that this is the same William Haig who once commanded respect in the party and country yet without shame wrote in his News of the World column in the early part of this year that he was making far too much money on his US speaking tours to consider an active role either within the party or then certain General Election campaign. What weight should party members put on the recommendation of such a man?

Remember also that the timing of his declaration seems curiously timed to have possibly been made with the advantage of some knowledge of the early voting results, if these are being deliberately slanted by those pulling the party strings, a travesty of democracy could be underway!

If David Cameron is elected, how long will the supposed "stardust on his collar" or as Haig is quoted as saying " “a certain quality which was impossible to define but you know it when you see it” really last. Such qualities are best used by confidence tricksters as far as I can see.

As prospective party leader, Cameron is preparing to help Tony Blair push through a series of public service reforms that, aides say, will keep a “wounded” and “isolated” prime minister in power.

The leadership favourite signalled his support for the government against Labour rebels on greater independence for state schools, city academies, benefit reform, foundation hospitals and more private sector involvement in the National Health Service.

Although he argues that he supports Blair’s modernisation of public services because he believes it is the right thing to do, his aides pointed out it is also designed to have the political effect of making Blair look “isolated” from his party. The move comes after the prime minister faced a first Commons defeat over his anti-terrorism bill.

If Cameron becomes the opposition leader next month, it could be Tory votes that keep the prime minister in power. “It will leave Blair badly wounded if the only way he can get his reforms through is with our support,” said a senior aide.

Tories heading for oblivion?

If the headline article in the online edition of the Daily Telegraph is to be believed the Conservative Party is doomed as David Cameron, the media darling who will become its mauled and mangled victim by the next General Election were he to become Party Leader, is reported to have opened an early and large lead over rival David Davis in the leadership contest.

Such are the results of a YouGov poll which has been so manipulatively reported as to condemn the Telegraph to the lowest possible level of even present day journalism. The report may be read from this link.

To try to grasp the degree of distortion it is necessary to recall the basis on which YouGov polls. Anybody can join YouGov and participate in those polls as they may wish. Is it really likely as the report seems to imply that one third of those conservative party members who have already voted are signed up as YouGov contributors. Unlike most polls published as far as I can find there is nowhere any reference to the size of the sample. Just how many conservative party members who have already voted could have been polled - it must be an incredibly small number unless there was some collusion or identification of names of those who had voted from party sources, any names thus provided could then well have been tilted towards the results desired by the Telegraph group owners and editors and/or the party establishment.

Evidence of the desired outcome of the senior party hierarchy comes later in the same report which states:

"Anne Maine, the MP for St Albans, who formerly supported Mr Davis, said she was now backing Mr Cameron, taking his support to 107 MPs - well over half the 198-strong parliamentary party.

Michael Ancram, the party's deputy leader, said the backing of a clear majority of Tory MPs was an important signal to party members."

The Gaderene rush to support the dubious, media reported front-runner by sitting MPs and their European counterparts is understandable when looking at the calibre and motives of the present elected party and remembering that were Cameron to win at only 39 years of age and given his apparent lack of policies and therefore presumably either character or principles, future advancement within the party is likely to be lost pretty much forever as far as the present entire elected members are concerned.

The announcement by the comparatively youthful Owen Paterson MP for David Davis is particularly commendable in this regard.

This blog quite correctly predicted the outcome of a Michael Howard leadership takeover - I feel equally certain that if the Tories go for Cameron then it will be the end of their party. How best to then restore decency and democracy to British politics will then become an even trickier problem.

Upon what planet dwells Bruce Anderson?

He moves from failing publication as regularly as the seasons and the garbage he puts out rarely ceases to amaze, yet this morning in The Independent he came out with this on David Cameron:

"At the moment, despite three successful years during which he has regularly demonstrated his courage"

Is there a single living soul within the UK who can honestly state that they believe David Cameron has any courage whatsoever let alone the first idea as to what should be done to set the country on a course that might solve the present problems? I doubt it!

Cameron warns of National Bankruptcy - WHY ONLY NOW?

WHY? Only now? The task of an opposition is to frame policies for problems ahead. Many, including this blogger, have seen this coming for years!

Why? Progessive, code word for the cause of the problem? In the same article Cameron refers to "Progressive Conservatism". I quote the extraordinary passage which proves him unfit for either the party or the post he holds within it:

"Progressive conservatism" was best placed to address the problems of social exclusion, he said. It would also help build a better civic society, address the economic problems the country faces, and protect public services.

My blog "Ironies Too" will continue to spell out the alternative way forward, which alone can return the nation to prosperity. Among the essentials - a return of assets today being squandered by the EU, individual responsibility, parliamentary democracy and rooting out greed and punishing the exploiters of recent years.

What a sixty-five pound fifty pence communications claim really shows!

Imagine if you can, claiming twenty-one thousand, two hundred and ninety-three pounds and eighty-six pence from the taxpayer to purchase a second home in the conveniently close to London countryside of Oxfordshire.

Then further imagine the kind of person who in finding that he is somewhat short of the maximum claim allowed by some three hundred and forty pounds and fourteen pence, then bangs in a further claim for sixty five pound fifty of phone bills or whatever!

One might presume the mortgage undershoot was an error, a miscalculation given that the year before the maximum had been £20,902 and the year after became £22,110.

Consider the Cameron couple are not of a class that require a mortgage for a second nor even third or fourth home. Is it co-incidence then, that the repayments are so close to the parliamentary maximum?

Given the undershoot however, surely any non-grasping or even sensibly cautious individual would refrain from adding the extra sixty-five pounds fifty pence. Hardly enough, after all, for an Oxfordshire countryside pre-dinner champagne one would imagine and surely of no consequence to a cad who must have forked out many hundreds of guineas for the blue velvet tails he used to don when incurring substantial bills for corkage and breakages during his Bullingdon dining with the Conservative Party's Mayoral candidate Boris?

How can anyone concerned for their country remain in a party led by someone who could steep so low and demean themselves in such a manner. How could you now vote for this man's drinking buddy Boris? Plenty of other choices remain!

£65.50 that is just about all David Cameron is worth, and do you not just marvel at the effrontery of that extra 50 pence?????

David Cameron Develops

From the moment it appeared likely David Cameron was in line to become leader of the Conservative Party, this blog has been scathingly critical and totally opposed.

It is therefore imperative that when signs are detected that our opinion might be about to change, we report that fact on this blog.

David Cameron's response to the Budget yesterday was hard-hitting, accurate and the first occasion where he appeared to rise towards the standard expected for Leader of the Opposition at this time of deep crisis for the Western world in its entirety and the British people in particular.

I do not know why, as Leader of the Party he chose to make this response rather than the increasingly inadequate appearing George Osborne, but it was again another well judged decision.

As the stock market falls this morning and the markets in London stir from their budget induced navel gazing of the past two days, we warned of the gathering storm clouds on another blog, Ironies Too, on Monday - we must trust that this apparent realisation of the scope and scale of the difficulties ahead will continue to be impressed upon the Tory leader.
