Cameron's father-in-law took £247,000 from the EU last year!
If you are one of the many Conservative voters who have been wondering why, in spite of all his euro-sceptic rhetoric down the years, David Cameron once becoming PM has suddenly become a complete poodle to the corrupt and non-democratic EU, then the fact revealed on Channel 4 Dispatches programme last evening, view here, that his wife's dad got almost a quarter of a million quid from the organisation might provide a clue.
If you think the PM's perks and salary make such considerations irrelevant, consider this was for one single year, the payments have been continuing for years and are likely to do so stretching into the distant future long after the Coalition is booted from office!
Other details involve £130,000 for Prince Charles, Mandelsons continuing payments, and Clegg's EU expenses Brussels property gains. Watch it in full, the programme merely scratches the surface of the monster Europe has created in its midst.

Continuing corruption within Cameron's Conservative Party
Peter Oborne has a good article in the Daily Telegraph this morning, linked here.
The title is "Our Parliament is rotten to the core" which is true but now of little importance as William Hague yesterday introduced a so-called Sovereignty Bill, read here, which in common with so much else that surrounds the EU actually achieves the reverse of what it purports to intend by handing the decision to transfer the last remaining shreds of sovereignty into the hands of one single minister.
"Our Parliament" is actually the European Parliament now Mr Oborne, that has been rotten since its inception as is recognised across Europe, it also has no power to legislate on any important issue, a fact now duplicated in Westminster. These two places are solely means of rewarding the filth who sold out our democracy on an ongoing basis and for their party successors!

Harriers versus Tornadoes
The debate on jet fighters on Radio 4 this morning was interesting. It may be heard from here.
My grandfather transferred from the Royal Navy flying seaplanes over the Channel during the Great War, to become an early officer in the newly formed RAF so I have taken more than a passing interest in the long ongoing debate on the question of naval air power and the need for carrier borne fighter aircraft.
In this post colonial age it appears to me the Falkland Islands would be the only remaining British dependency economically worthwhile defending with carrier borne aircraft, yet the huge investment to construct the RAF Mount Pleasant airfield was surely justified against the costs of constant aircraft carrier patrols in the South Atlantic.
Recent drilling off the Falklands should now allow more detailed cost/risk analysis to be compared with potential hydrocarbon rewards, but given the history the arguments put forward by Lord West seem less than sound, could we really have sent a two carrier force to the South Atlantic during the past decade?
Yet the arguments put forward by the Lib/Dem Arms Minister during the broadcast seem equally shaky. Nato will be defeated in Afghanistan because you cannot tell an Afghani tribesman from a member of the Taliban and in the end the Afghanis always win at Home. To base our entire air defence policy on the fact that the Tornadoes are more practicable in Afghanistan when the PM has already hinted at a British run down there next year seems absurd.
On balance therefore I must come down against the direction of the career move made by my Grandfather and support the Ark Royal/Harrier argument, such a view being strengthened by the report in the Telegraph this morning that the catapault system for the new carriers will only come at horrendous cost, declaring Force Majeure or malintent on those contracts seems the most sensible course.

Cameron gives UK Assent to Lisbon II Treaty
CNBC TV is reporting that Cameron has conceded the principle that there will be an amendment to the Lisbon Treaty which must mean he has backtracked on every promise and statement he has made on the EU since becoming Conservative Party Leader, there can be no other interpretation of his actions.David Cameron, as long predicted on my blog Teetering Tories, ever since the day he became the most likely leader of the Conservative Party, has thus totally betrayed Britain and particularly all those who voted for him and his party.

William Hague proposes Bill to confirm Parliamentary Sovereignty
Speaking on Sky News the Foreign Secretary, William Hague, who in a few short months has managed to make his predecessor David Miliband appear a significant figure, has stated on Sky News that the Coalition Government will pass a Bill stating that Parliament has the sovereign right to legislate. If ever an act appeared calculated to throw into doubt whether such real sovereignty is still intact, this surely has to be just that. The item was on Sky News at 07:31 am.
Today this shameful figure will speak to his party and pretend that further losses of sovereignty are not now automatic under the Lisbon Treaty and that his flaky and insubstantial Cabinet colleagues have not already since last May conceded huge swathes of sovereignty not least in the EU Investgation orders and the European External Action Service, both at incalculable but huge financial as well as sovereign sacrifices.

George Osborne's Child Benefit Cut and its Timing
The first assumption I make is that Osborne believes that the Coalition will (note; not 'can' but 'will') survive the full five years in power. Interestingly Parliament will almost certainly at some stage need to have its powers further neutered if such is to be guaranteed. A General Election in May 2013, a probable date in my earlier calculations of likliehoods would now appear totally out of the question coming one month after the money is actually cut at the start of the financial year.
A rational and consistent approach to reducing universality by cutting heating allowances and free bus passes for the over 65s would have been consistent and logical, dispelling the impression that there is some form of political process in play.
The greatest mystery arise from the deferment of the cut to 2013. Surely any unpopular move such as this is best brought in as far from the next election as possible, therefore as soon as possible. As austerity and the huge government borrowings of one pound in every four being spent today is the ostensible reason then logically the cut should be effective at the latest at the start of the next tax year or lumped in with any other necessary fiscal changes coming from the spending cuts to be announced later this month.
There is no discernible logic behind the change or the timing of its announcement.
What I believe we have seen is a drawing of the line at a level of income where a future combined political party will look for support at the next general election when the coalition will plan to run only joint candidates. Cameron and Osborne will thus have achieved that of which Blair could only dream in his long gone Labour Party Conference speech, the destruction of Conservatism.
Cameron and Osborne are now betting that their Tory supportes are too dense to perceive this reality, a calculation in which they are probably correct.

For a Prime Minister sandwiched between familial male disabilities - THE real challenge now awaits!
Anyone reading the two obituaries linked here and here would be hard-hearted indeed not to admire the courage and empathise with the pathos of the two separate lives therein described.
Strange indeed that the Father of the one early life, cut short before it had barely begun, would also be the Son of the second life described, a courageous but strangely privileged one, played out to its full length and only ending this week.
None can speculate at the strengths or weaknesses such circumstances could cause in any man, let alone one charged with leading a nation through its darkest days for seventy years.
When I penned the posting beneath this, I had not been aware of the depths of tragedy in this extraordinary saga, that David Cameron could be extraordinarily good for the country OR a complete disaster must now be obvious to any who read the links to this posting.
The coming days will tell!

My condolences to David Cameron
The loss of a father is often a traumatic and symbolic moment in any man's lifetime. I pass my condolences to the Prime Minister which are no less sincere for the fact that this blog has been one of his most constant critics.
Many of those criticisms detailed here on this blog, could well be ascribed to a complaint which all experience in their youth, namely immaturity. My Father's passing when I was only 22 made me grow up very fast, which looking back over the intervening forty-four years I can now determine almost certainly made me the possibly somewhat intolerant and irascible individual that I am today. I do believe that on the plus side, however, it allowed me to form an ability for fast but considered decision making that I was able to profit from in life.
Such a sea-change now confronts Britain's Prime Minister. There are challenges enough ahead, for example the economy and the future path of both Germany and the USA., as discussed on Ironies Too yesterday and today.
When Mr Cameron returns to Downing Street, perhaps we will see signs of such new maturity, a dumping of the former News International placeman at the centre of Downing Street power would be an encouraging first step.

A sloppy, slap-happy government...!!
“I called it sloppy, slap-happy government. It is time for some disciplined thought and disciplined action. Being a Prime Minister is a serious business,” So said Lord Tebbit as reported in the London Evening Standard this evening, linked here.
Cameron and his similarly privileged and EU programmed side-kick Nick Clegg, are further dishing the country ever deeper into the mire, as if New Labour had not already brought it to its knees. (Mixed metaphor or what? Will the mire soon reach the neck?)
Yet senior Conservative Party politicians such as Lord Tebbit himself remain on board the train that careers ever downwards and out of control, in spite of his assertion at lunch on 9th September 2003 that the only choice as far as the EU was concerned, was to get off and board another tube train heading in a directly opposite direction!
"Being Prime Minister is a serious business" states Lord Tebbit, yet his party tolerated Cameron for years to only then lead their party into but one more predictable defeat (as almost daily chronicled on this blog). Yet still these senior sceptics remain, bleating about the froth, whipped up by the escaping air from the head of the opportunistic, marketing-model dimwit their party put in charge!

Cameron's crippling personality flaws
There has been much written and said about the Cameron 1940 gaffe descibed in our posting below of yesterday.
Cameron clearly has no feel for history and what is worse lacks the ability to put himself in another's shoes, a fatal flaw in any intenational situation let alone negotiations. His comparative youth and complete lack of any leadership experience comingh on top of his insular upbringing and lack of proper foreign travel compounds the danger this represents for his country. The fact that the same failings seem to exist across the entire coalition cabinet.
The definitive work on the Anglo/US relationship in 1940 is in my view "Roosevelt & Churchill" by David Stafford, my edition is by Abacus History ISBN 0-349-11282-7 and interested readers should go to page 47.
In the meantime I offer some quotes, from here, to help my readers put themselves in the shoes of an ordinary British citizen in 1940 as we faced Hitler and his Nazis alone.
Put these against what David Cameron stated yesterday I think it's important in life to speak as it is, and the fact is that we are a very effective partner of the US, but we are the junior partner'. 'We were the junior partner in 1940 when we were fighting the Nazis.'
Against that I suppose the only flag that could be added would be the yellow stars on the blue background of the EU, in recogntion of our complete surrender to the concepts and tyranny against which our forebears so bravely fought alone during 1940.

Cameron knows no recent history! Clearly he is unfit for office.
David Cameron, Britain's Prime Minister, believes Britain was a junior partner to the USA in fighting the Nazis in 1940.
The USA was not even in the war at that point as Britain then stood alone in a completely subdued, quaking and mostly conquered Europe.
What a shameful lack of knowledge for this supposed leader of the Nation. Not even knowing on the just passed 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain that we then fought alone.
NO WONDER HE LOST THE ELECTION..... KICK HIM OUT NOW!

QUISLING!!
There are many words this image from an article in the Daily Telegraph this image evokes, among them traitor, liar hypocrite, opportunist, liar and cheat are but a few of the mildest. That I have chosen for this posting's headline states it the best for me.
Consider the tone of the accompanying article..... what utter tripe! There are no victories for Britain in the EU, look at our social disorder, neutered Parliament and sold off basic industries now run for foreigners by opportunistic barrow boys such as was clearly demonstrated by the leaders of BP in the USA this week.
Cameron slimed his way to power within the Conservative Party by the pretense that he was opposed to the EU and would begin to sever the tentacles which increasingly squeeze the decency from our former democracy, yet now he claims "There are things we can do at the European level that are in Britain's interest. I've always believed that. Even my most Eurosceptic colleagues would accept that."
Rubbish, supping with the devil has ever only had one end result!
Cameron joins the list of recent Prime Ministers who have directed their personal ambitions to treacherous ends. Cameron slimed his way to power within the Conservative Party by the pretense that he was opposed to the EU and would begin to sever the tentacles which increasingly squeeze the decency from our former democracy, yet now he claims "There are things we can do at the European level that are in Britain's interest. I've always believed that. Even my most Eurosceptic colleagues would accept that."
Rubbish, supping with the devil has ever only had one end result!
Cameron joins the list of recent Prime Ministers who have directed their personal ambitions to treacherous ends. His crime is the greater for the direction and intent of the EU must now be clearer to all. Perhaps that fact will eventually allow for this comparatively young Prime Minister to be eventually held to account.
